Report by Jide Dominic, Yenagoa – As the 2023 general elections draw closer, the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has reiterated his determination towards addressing four major areas that had been the bane of the nation’s socio-political and economic growth since the inception of democracy in 1999.

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who stated this while addressing the crowd that gathered at the PDP Presidential campaign rally in Yenagoa on Monday further stressed that the four areas include insecurity, unemployment of the teeming youths, the incessant ASIU strike and his commitment towards introducting proactive measures that would go a long way in putting the country on the path of economic growth and progress.

According to him, the nation’s economic growth was on a right course when PDP was in power but nose-dived into an alerming proportion when the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) took over power since 2015, adding that he possesses the requisite knowledge that would lead to the rapid revamping of the nation’s economy which he promises to put into concrete action if voted into power come February 25, 2023.

The PDP Presidential candidate also noted that the socio-economic fortune of Bayelsa state is tied to PDP as the state has always been a PDP state right from when the country return back to democratic rule, urging Bayelsans from all walks of life to vote for PDP in the general elections that are fast approaching.

He further opined that he has always been an apostle of restructuring of the nation’s polity which is garmane to the the country’s development in all ramifications, adding the he would take it as his priority if he eventually assumes power.

In his remarks, the state Governor, Senator Douye Diri pointed out that Atiku Abubakar is the only Presidential candidate that has advocated for not only the restructuring of the country but also the willingness to introduce policies for the full implementation of resource control, reiterating that the twin issues of restructuring and resource control had been on the drawing board for too long and are overdue.

Gov. Diri also noted that PDP is the party that has given the state everything from the beginning of civilian rule, stressing that only Atiku has spoken about what Bayelsans need presently.

He however assured the PDP Presidential candidate campaign council of the preparedness of Bayelsans to vote massively for the party at the elections.

The Chairman of PDP in the state, Hon. Solomon Agwana opined that the ruling APC has plunged the country into economic woes, especially as regards unemployment for the teeming youths across the country, insurgency, inflation and cross incompetence which, according to him, has resulted the dwindling economic fortunes of the country.

He used the opportunity to appeal to Bayelsans to come out and vote out APC for the overall good of the country, insisting that thier vote should go to PDP as Atiku is poised to implement the restructuring agenda for the overall development of the nation.

The rally witnessed the decamping of some PDP members to APC, including two former House of Representatives members, Henry Ofongo and Warman Ogoriba.
