Africa Check Selects Emesakoru Enifome as Fact Ambassador
In recognition of his journalistic skills, Africa Check selects Emesakoru Enifome, an Abuja-based development expert as a Fact Ambassador.
Emesakoru Enifome made this known in his note of appreciation on his official Facebook account. Below is the appreciation note;
“It is my great pleasure to announce my selection as a Fact Ambassador by Africa Check, Africa’s first independent fact-checking organization set up in 2012, to assess claims made in the public arena using journalistic skills and evidence drawn from the latest online tools, readers, public sources and experts, sorting fact from fiction and publishing the results with presence in Kenya, Senegal, South Africa and Nigeria.
“As a Fact Ambassador, I will be joining and supporting Africa Check ,Nigeria country coordinator in the fight against misinformation and dangerous health and other claims in Nigeria.
“For democracy to function, public figures need to be held to account for what they say. The claims they make need to be checked, openly and impartially.
“I am excited at the opportunity to impact the everyday lives of Nigerians through driving a trusted source of information, puts facts first and pauses before them, keeps an eye out for myths, hoaxes, or conspiracy theories and to help my peers and community understand important issues by setting the record straight when they spot false information online.
To catch the details, I will be sending through some exciting graphics for the Fact Ambassador Project.
Get set to enjoy the journey !
