Bayelsa Government Enters Agreement with NCDMB Over Power Supply

The Bayelsa state government and the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB enters into a purchase agreement to ensure regular supply of electricity to the Government House and it’s environs.

While signing the agreement at the Government House in Yenagoa, Governor Douye Diri described power as crucial to the development of any society.

He noted that the state was blessed with abundant gas resources which has been underutilized adding that his administration is determined to use the resources of the state for the benefit of the people.

A statement from the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Daniel Alabrah quoted the governor saying the importance of electricity cannot be overemphasized as it has the power to improve the economic fortune of any society.

Governor Diri appreciated the management of NCDMB and other partners that made the agreement possible.

He called on private investors to explore the abundance of natural gas in the state as the government is ready to partner with such investors to make power and other amenities available to the people.

The governor also called for the issuance of meters to the people in order to end estimated billing and make payment of bills easier and more acceptable to people of the state.

In his remark, Executive Secretary, NCDMB, Mr Simbi Wabote described the agreement as a major milestone as power supply is important to the government and the entire state.
