Bayelsa Government Says It’s Committed to Link Up Communities


The Bayelsa State government says it is committed to linking up rural communities to enable them have access to the state capital through good roads.

Director General, New Media to Governor Douye Diri, Dr Kola Oredipe came out with this when he led a team of newsmen for an on the spot assessment of the ongoing road projects being undertaken by the prosperity administration across the state.

Dr Oredipe reiterated that the state government is committed to the completion of road projects which would open many rural communities to new opportunities and improved economic activities.

“While other states have their priority, for us in Bayelsa it is to open up the communities that are locked into the rivers, the Yenagoa/Oporoma Ukubie road which would open up the entire Southern Ijaw local government area, this is the headquarters of the council area, for so long it is not connected by road, it is this government that is taking this road across the River Nun, people in this area have been waiting for this road for more than 40 years, they’re very excited, it would open up a lot of economic activities”

He emphasized the state government’s priority in expanding the capital city, Yenagoa with projects such as the dualized Glory drive and the Igbogene AIT road, Elebele Outer ring road and others.

“We’re also trying to expand the capital city, Yenagoa through the Glory drive, the Outer ring road, by the time those two roads are completed, you can be sure that we have new developed areas, the prosperity administration of Governor Douye Diri is committed to completing all ongoing projects”
