Douye Diri Says His Administration Made Remarkable Achievements in 2021

The Bayelsa State governor, Senator Douye Diri says despite the lean resources in the state, his administration has made some remarkable achievement in the year 2021 in some areas such as health, agriculture, security, infrastructural development, youth and women empowerment as well as reconciliation of aggrieved communities amongst others.

Bayelsa state Governor, Douye Diri came out with this during his new year broadcast message to Bayelsans in Yenagoa, the state capital.

He acknowledged that the state has made considerable advancement in set goals however he is not oblivious of the challenges that made families faced in the year 2021 adding that he feels their pain and knows their frustrations.

The governor described year 2022 as a year of great expectation for sustainable growth.

He prayed that the year 2022 would be better for Bayelsans as his administration would continue to take necessary steps to address challenges of unemployment, poverty, hunger, inequality and poor health.

“The closing of one year and the birth of another year is an important milestone, it offers us a mirror to take stock of the past and plan ahead for a fresh beginning in retrospect 2021″ he added.

Governor Diri who noted that the state owned security outfit, ” Operation Doo Akpor” has been revived and upgraded with modern assets for optimal service delivery said some projects would be due for commissioning during the second anniversary of his administration in February 2022.

“The vision of a prosperous Bayelsa is evolving and ongoing, I am the first to acknowledge that despite the undeniable progress, there are areas to improve and gains to consolidate upon. This is the time for genuine friends of the state to align with the prosperity vision so that together, we can transform our challenges to opportunities and prosperity”

The governor who showered encomiums on the sports men and women said they made the state proud in 2021 by winning numerous laurels, emerging third place at the National Sports Festival in Edo State, just as Bayelsa United and Bayelsa Queens won the FA Cup describing it as an remarkable feat in the history of the nation’s football.

“They have justified the huge investment in the sector, renovation of the Samson Siasia Sports Complex, we provided coaster buses to the football teams, scholarship to university level of nine year old, Deborah Quickpen who made us proud after winning the Under 10 Chess Championship.

While speaking on the grievous oil spill in Nembe local government area, the governor advised all stakeholders to call for responsible oil exploration activities in the Niger Delta and Bayelsa State in particular noting that the lives and livelihood of the people must be prioritized.
