Douye Diri Votes in Local Government Elections in Bayelsa

Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri has casted his vote in the ongoing local government elections being held in the state with a call on residents to come out to cast their votes.

Governor Diri who casted his vote at about 10:46am in his hometown, Sampou, Kalama-owei Unit 4, Ward 6 in Kolokuma/Opokuma local government area noted that more persons are expected to come out particularly as the leaders are already voting as a good example for others to follow.

“The local government and councilorship elections are the closest to the people, hence more persons would come out, the town crier has gone round to call on residents to come out to vote”

The governor noted that there are 105 wards in the state and they all have candidates, adding that the people have always being supportive during elections hence they expect more support from them.

While answering questions from newsmen on the opposition party boycotting elections due to irregularities, the governor pointed out that their definition of irregularities is only known to them.

” I don’t know their own reason for boycotting the election, I don’t know what is irregularity as is known to the Sylva/Otiotio led APC, whatever they described as irregularities is best known to them”

The governor expressed confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP would have a landslide victory.

However, Governor Diri assured residents of peaceful elections having charged all the state and federal government security agencies to carry out their duties effectively.

Meanwhile, the candidate for Labour Party in Sagbama local government area, Mr Christopher Timi Ogosi has declared that there was no election in the local government area.
