Edo Government Places Restrictions on Residents Over COVID-19 Vaccine

The Edo State government has warned residents of the state that they may not have access to events and worship centres without proof of COVID-19 vaccination.

Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki gave this warning in Benin city, the Edo State capital during the flagging of the second phase of the coronavirus vaccine exercise.

Governor Obaseki noted that from the second week of September, residents in the state would not be allowed into churches, mosques and other event centres except they have the vaccination cards.

He explained that this directive is not intended to cause hardship on the people but to protect lives and livelihood adding that his administration would continue to strictly enforce all measures to contain the pandemic.

He further noted that activities to mark the 30th anniversary of Edo State government has been scaled down significantly in compliance with COVID-19 guidelines.

The Edo State governor urged people of the state to take the vaccine which is available and free for all.
