Governor Udom Calls For Review of Allocation for Host Communities in PIA

The Akwa Ibom State governor, Emmanuel Udom calls for an upward review of the 3% allocation to host communities as contained in the Petroleum Industry Act, PIA.

Governor Udom came out with this during an interview on a national television program as part of activities to mark the 34th anniversary of the creation of Akwa Ibom State.

He noted that oil producing communities in the Niger Delta were not happy over the paltry 3% allocation in the act hence there has been severe criticisms from various stakeholders in the region.

While harping on the need to review the allocation, he further warned that the issue must not be allowed to return to the ersof resource control.

While also speaking on the controversy surrouding the collection of Value Added Tax, VAT by states which has become a subject of litigation, he said that collection would be favourable to every state.
