Head Teachers Charged to Be Involved in Educational Development in Bayelsa

Head teachers of public primary schools have been charged to see themselves as critical stakeholders in the development process of education in the state.

The Executive, Secretary of the Education Development Trust Fund, EDTF, Dr Alice Atuwo disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen during the opening ceremony of the first batch of training for teachers of public schools at the University of Africa, Toru-Orua.

Dr Alice Atuwo explained that the fight for the emancipation of people has moved from arms struggle to academics hence efforts must be made in the educational pursuit of the younger generation to continue to struggle for a better Niger Delta region.

She urged the beneficiaries of the training to be serious saying it was in realization of the effect of capacity building for a better education of the cradle and in line with the mandate of the EDTF.

She thanked Governor Douye Diri for continuing to ideas of his predecessor particularly the EDTF which she noted is being emulated and replicated in other states of the federation.

Commissioner for Education, Dr Gentle Emelah who declared the training open, represented by Professor Barclays Ayakoroma stressed that quality education plays a major role in the lives of people reaffirming the prosperity administration’s resolve to continue support programs that would advance education in the state.
