Launches 50MAWSP: Nigeria can donate the 50 million, Says ECOWAS Head of Security and Civil Society

With the launch of the 50 Million Africa Women Speak Platform, Raheemat Momodu, Head of Division, Security and Civil Society, ECOWAS has expressed optimism that Nigeria alone can donate the 50 million women to the platform.

She made this known in Abuja while presenting her welcome speech during the National Media launch of the platform.

According to her, Nigeria alone can supply this 50 million and it will be the goal to provide the fifty million while the rest country come along adding that the objective of the platform is to facilitate the empowerment of women through the creation of a virtual platform for networking and information sharing in other to improve the ability to access support from financial institutions.

Momodu said the 15-member ECOWAS state has worked to host and implement the project 50 million African Women Speak funded by the African Development Bank.

Also speaking, the Honourable Minister, Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, Hon Pauline Tallen who represented by the permanent secretary, FMWA, Mrs. Anagbogu Ifeoma said that there are several opportunities which comes in the form of training and support services leading to linkages with other related business and persons.

She said Nigeria has done very well better than so many others. Nigeria, especially the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs is in full support to this and had contributed immensely to it, to ensure that Nigeria women and girls are given all we have and can to ensure that their livelihood improve in the country.

The platform is to enable them have access to financial services and support as well as to network with other people that are relevant to make their businesses grow in the African region and indeed in the whole world, she said.

“There are various micro credit schemes available operated by the ministry in collaboration with other partners to ensure that women have their businesses, scaled up and thriving.

She therefore encouraged women to use the platform to speak up on that platform, the ministry wants 50 million women to speak as part of the 2020 roadmap that was presented this program will go more higher.
