Lockdown: Seven Events to Fill Your Home With Fun

Indeed, the Coronavirus otherwise Covid-19 has exposed to new lifestyles as preventive measures to contain its spread. Various governments across the globe are calling for total lockdown.

Lockdown has become a familiar word in the everyday lexicon of an average Nigerian as government at different levels are taking steps to enforce it.

Lockdown is not totally a bad idea but a period of a reunion with family members since movement has been restricted. Everybody is expected to stay home, in order to break the circle of transmission of the virus.

Here are seven events to keep the home busy with fun.

👉. Pray Together 🙏
Interestingly, this is the time for family to pray together.  There is power in family prayers especially with the lockdown of churches. Therefore, parents should guide their children in the place of prayers. Pray in praise, worship and singing of hymns. This will surely lift up the spirit of the family.

👉  Turn Your Living room to a Cinema 📺
Hmmm… Yes, the cinema are not spared but you can create that cinematic experience at home. Turn off the lights, turn high the volume and watch your favorite movies together either daily or at scheduled times.

👉. Organizer Competitions ☝️
The children will miss the the various quiz and debate competition back school and nothing is stopping them to have one at home. Parents as quiz Masters and time keepers, they can organize competition at home.

👉. Play Games Together either Indoors or Outdoors 🏌️
Games are delightful experiences that builds friendship and friendly atmosphere. As a family, with available space you can have either Indoors or outdoor games to create entertainment for everyone to participate.

👉. Prepare Meals in turns🍜🍛
The lockdown provides an opportunity for learning especially for kids. Parents should use the period to encourage their children to cook in turns either male or female. The preparation of meals should not be left for mummies or maids only. Mummies should encourage every member of the family to partake. It’s for fun and learning.

👉. Start a Home Reading Club 📚📚
Waooooow… To keep the children abreast with their reading skills, there is need to start a Home Reading Club for everybody. After the reading session, every member should share ideas and lead discussion on any subject or topic of interest. Again, it is for learning purposes but not to undermine anybody.

👉. Celebrate Wins Together 🎉🎉
Hmmm… Celebration is a daily part of Nigerians. While the lockdown is in enforce, family should find time to party together. You can organize dinner, cocktail and other forms of celebration to keep everyone going in high spirit.

These seven events, if well scheduled in the morning will sure fill the home with fun but endeavor to avoid monopoly. To add colour to events, everyone should be involved.
