The National Agency for the Control of AIDS, NACA has embarked on a supervisory visit to some states in the country which includes Bayelsa state.

South South Zonal Coordinator, Dr Uduak Daniel who led the team to Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital said it is a supervisory visit to the state to meet with stakeholders and provide mentorship for them on the Global HIV Prevention programs.

Dr Daniel explained that stakeholders such as the Bayelsa State Agency for the Control of AIDS BYSACA, Line Ministries, Implementing partners and others need to understand NACA programs on HIV prevention in order to help in reducing new infections in the state.

She noted that NACA would provide technical assistance to the state to strengthen HIV prevention programs.

This visit would provide us information on the efforts made by the state in HIV prevention which can be collated for policy formulation and programming at the national level, she added.

While answering questions from stakeholders, she noted that more attention has been given to treatment rather than prevention hence NACA wants stakeholders to have more knowledge on the major areas of HIV prevention.

The South South Zonal Coordinator who spoke on the National HIV Prevention Plan said the document serves as a guide for stakeholders to increase efforts to end HIV by the year 2030.
