SERVICE OBJECTIVE(S): Understanding the forces that gives strength to prayer

The strength or the weight of prayer determines both the impact and the outcome of prayer

WHAT DETERMINES THE STRENGTH OR THE WEIGHT OF PRAYER?

1. Quality relationship with God (Gen. 19:27, 18:19, 1 Kings 17:1, James 5:17-18, 18:41, Eph. 3:20, Isa. 65:24)

SCRIPTURAL EXAMPLES OF PEOPLE THAT HAD QUALITY RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD IN PRAYER:

1. Abraham (Gen. 19:27, 18:19, 18:24)

2. Elijah (1Kings 17:1, James 5:17-18, 18:41-45)

1a. Request only makes sense where relationship is valid

1b. Requests made in the absence of relationship equals begging rather than praying

God has not called us to beg from Him; He has called us to pray to Him

2. The purity of conscience/a clear pure conscience (Prov. 28:1, Isa. 59:1-2, Dan. 1:8, 6:4, 10, 21-22, 1 Thess. 5:17)

SCRIPTURAL EXAMPLES OF PEOPLE THAT HAD A CLEAR CONSCIENCE AT THE PLACE OF PRAYER:

1. Daniel (Dan. 1:8, 6:4, 10, 21-22)

2. Paul the Apostle (Acts 24:16, 1 Thess. 5:17, Eph. 6:18)

2a. A clear conscience is foundation for boldness in the Spirit and boldness is qualification for access to God (Prov. 28:1, Heb. 4:16)

2b. A clear conscience grants both access and audience with God (Isa. 59:1-2)

THINGS TO NOTE REGARDING A CLEAR CONSCIENCE:

2(i) Whatever defiles your conscience denies your access

2(ii) Whatever defiles your conscience deflates your boldness

3. The sharpness of Word revelation (Ps. 43:3, Hosea 14:2, 1 Sam. 3:21, Deut. 29:29, Acts 20:32, 1 John 5:14, Luke 10:16)

SCRIPTURAL EXAMPLES OF PEOPLE THAT PRAYED WITH LIGHT

1. Elijah (1 Kings 18:32-38)

2. Daniel (9:1-3, 20-23)

SUMMARY:

Don’t just pray, pray with strength and you pray with strength by engaging the forces that give strength to prayer

3a. Light or revelation is vehicle into the Presence of God (Ps. 43:3, Hosea 14:2, 1 Sam. 3:21, Rev. 22:15)

3b. Light or revelation unveils your inheritance (Deut. 29:29, Acts 20:32)

3c. Light or revelation is fuel for faith (Rom. 10:8, 17, Heb. 11:6)

THINGS TO NOTE REGARDING REVELATION/LIGHT:

1. Revelation is fuel for supplication, petition, intercession, adoration and other forms of prayer

2. What is revealed determines what can be pursued and what is pursued determines what is possessed (Hab. 2:1-4)

The release of the Word equals the appearance of the LORD

The light of His Word reveals the right of man

From light to right, from right to might, from might to fight and from fight to flight
