Residents in Bayelsa Express Worry Over Rising Cases of Armed Robbery
Some residents in Bayelsa state have expressed worry over the rising cases of armed robbery, kidnapping and sea piracy in the state.
Some residents who spoke on anonymity said they are living in fear particularly at night when they are retiring from their daily activities.
An environmentalist, Comrade Morris Alagoa noted that the rate at which Bayelsans fall victim to violent crimes such as robbery in tricycles is quite worrisome.
Comrade Alagoa who is also the State Coordinator of the Environmental Rights Action and Friends of the Earth, Nigeria equally noted that Bayelsa which was noted for its low crime rate is beginning to record many violent crimes considering its size and population.
He urged residents of the state to be watchful and vigilant as armed robbery, kidnapping and sea piracy are on the increase daily.
He also appealed to security agencies to increase monitoring of public places in the state.
