Rivers Government Warns Hotels Against Use of Their Premises for Political Thugs

The Rivers State government has issued a warning to owners of hotels and other public entertainment centers against subletting their premises to political parties and politicians for gatherings of alleged political thugs across the state.

Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike gave the warning following an intelligent report that some political parties have started recruiting miscreants, cultists, ex-convicts and thugs in furtherance of their political aspirations for 2023.

Governor Wike in a statement noted that the state government is not taking the intelligent report lightly and would therefore not give any politician no matter their position the opportunity to upset the prevailing peace and security in the state.

The governor warned that the state government would pull down hotels or entertainment centers that are linked with such political activities.

He urged residents in the state to be vigilant while carrying out their usual activities and report any suspicious activity or gathering in their vicinity to security agencies for necessary action.

Governor Wike commended the people of Rivers State for their overwhelming support and solidarity given to his administration since May 2015 till date.

He also commended security agencies in the state for their efforts, courage and dedication in keeping Rivers State safe and secure.
