Barely 48 hours before he ordered the invasion, Putin told his counterpart, Emmanuel Macarons, French President that he is not preparing for war with Ukraine.

Reports have it that he (Putin) gave a similar assurance to Joe Biden, US President before the invasion of Ukraine about a week ago. Despite the imposition of sanction, Putin appears perturbed but plans to carry out his plans.

The Ukrainian and Russian conflict has a deep seated history dating back to the 9th Century. Putin’s invasion is a case of modern day imperialism in impunity and lack of respect for human lives.
