TOPIC: NOT BY POSITION

“22. And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet, 23. And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.” (Mark 5:22-23)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

As Jesus crossed over to the other side after His trip to the Gadarenes, He was met by Jairus, who was one of the rulers of the synagogue. Jairus’ daughter was at the point of death. Jairus was a ruler in the synagogue, but death seemed to be bearing rule in his home. Jairus’ position would make him seem like all was well with him, he had the form that other men would look up to, but death had taken charge of his home.

Friend, it’s not enough to be a ruler in the synagogue; it’s not enough to have a form of godliness; it’s not enough to be seen in the eyes of men to have what it takes to be on guard at the gate; it’s not enough to bear titles that make you sound superior to other men. Dare to be a light bearer; dare to be a fire carrier; dare to be a demon chaser; dare to be a multiplier of the anointing; dare to be a gate keeper.

Jairus remained a ruler of the synagogue, until he realized that there was something more than being a ruler of the synagogue, and he had no option but to seek Jesus. He faced a situation that was beyond him, and he appreciated the difference between being a mere ruler of the synagogue and being a carrier of power. Rise above your comfortable place as a ‘ruler of the synagogue’, and press in for more of God and more in God.

If you dare to seek Jesus more closely, there are mind-blowing miracles that will come your way in a matter of time. If you dare to seek Jesus more, you will become a partaker of the power of God as well as the divine releases from heaven. As you seek more of Jesus, the darkness around you will be overtaken by light. As you seek to know Jesus more, the same power that raised Jesus from the dead will work mightily in you.

Welcome to that new season where you must seek God more. Welcome to that new season where your seeking must rise above your rulership of the synagogue.

Philippians 3:10 says: “That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;”
