Yenagoa Residents Call on Government Over Rising Cases of Social Vices

Residents of Yenagoa call on the Bayelsa state government to come to their aid over the rising cases of kidnapping, armed robbery and cultism in many communities.

They say the situation is alarming as these social vices have negatively affected many businesses and could stop investors from bringing new businesses into the state which is detrimental to the development of the state capital.

Speaking to newsmen in Yenagoa, Chairman of the Action Democratic Party, ADP Mr Edwin Tare noted that residents who are struggling to survive in the harsh economic realities in the state are still battling with insecurity.

Mr Tare elaborated on the high cases of kidnapping of high profile residents and their relatives which is very worrisome.

He called on the state government and relevant security agencies to tackle the issue with stringent measures.

Also speaking, a public commentator, Mr Jeremiah Utavie appealed to the government and community leaders to revive community vigilante to assist in handling the security challenges.

He also appealed to all security personnel to carry out their duties effectively in the state capital to arrest the situation.
