2023 Bayelsa Governorship Polls: INEC Assures Hitch free Distribution of Materials
Obo Effanga, Resident Electoral Officer, REC in Bayelsa State has assured residents that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has distributed all electoral materials to the various local government areas.
Mr Effanga disclosed this while speaking to newsmen saying that with the collaboration of security personnel in the state, all hitches on the movement of election materials has been addressed.
“We have moved the materials to the various registration areas where our personnel are camped. Some of the polling units would require us to use boats to move the materials, we have made arrangements for the adequate number of boats needed for those areas”
While speaking on issues of security, he pointed out that the security agencies are also prepared to carry out their duties professionally hence, the politicians and the electorate should conduct themselves responsibly.
The INEC REC noted that the commission through its Department of Voter Education and Publicity has done a lot of enlightenment using the media and various Non Governmental Organizations to educate the people in various communities on the electoral process.
Speaking on the emergence of new polling units which could lead to changes in the voting centres of some persons, he noted that there would be Polling Unit Locators to assist persons who may be having difficulties in identifying their polling units.
He called on all politicians and their supporters to come out and vote, following due process to ensure a peaceful and credible election in the state.
