ANA Bayelsa Unveils New Look Journal on May 29

All is now set for the public presentation and launch of the maiden edition of the new look annual journal of the ANA Bayelsa State Chapter of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) to mark the state chapter’s niniteenth anniversary and ANA National fortieth anniversary.

A statement by the ANA Bayelsa Chairman, Dr. Akpos Adesi and Secretary, Mr. Ebipreye Egbenpere, reveals that the event showcases the new format journal Christened ANA BAYELSA REVIEW.

It now has a formal academic outlook of a journal which is research based unlike the earstwhile moribund ANA Bayelsa MARINER which was more of a newsletter and magazine highlighting social events spiced with literary inputs.

This maiden edition of the journal boasts of an array of contemporary trends of academic research articles and biographies from seasoned writers, authors and academics with critical literary essays, book reviews, poetry, and excerpts of one act plays and short stories.

The statement by the Dr. Adesi-led executive also reveals that the journal (ANA BAYELSA REVIEW with seventy-two contributors and research articles) has the Dean, Faculty of Humanities, NDU, Professor Ogaga Okuyade as editorial consultant, with award winning poet, Barrister Ernest Brisibe as poetry editor, Dr. Rudolf kansese (drama), Deputy Registrar of NDU, Mr. Benson Ayah (prose), the sensational Ofurima maestro and orature specialist, Chief Adolphus Munamu edited the excerpts on Izon oral literature, while the Vice Chairman, ANA Bayelsa, Mr. Amatare Mozimo is the managing editor.

The new look ANA BAYELSA REVIEW (formerly The Mariner) is to be reviewed by Professor Blessing Igwesi of the Niger Delta University (NDU) and formerly unveiled and launched by the National President of ANA, Barrister Ahmed Maiwada to commemorate ANA fortieth anniversary in Yenagoa.

The Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Abraham Ngobere is the Special Guest of Honour while the Executive Chairman of the Bayelsa State Post -Primary Schools Board, High Chief Millionaire Asangba is the Chairman of the occasion.

Other dignitaries billed to grace the occasion are HON. Ted Elemefuro, HON. Mitemna Obodor, Chief Lambert Ototo and the wife of the governor of Bayelsa State, Her Excellency, Barrister Patience Ama Zuofa-Diri.

The statement concludes that the public unveiling of the ANA BAYELSA REVIEW by Dr. Akpos Adesi (who now doubles as the Registrar of the University of Africa, Toru-Orua, UAT) is billed to hold on Saturday, May 29, 2021, at the Golden Tulip Creek Haven Resort, Government House, Onopa Yenagoa by 12:00 noon prompt.

The general public, all ANA members and the Bayelsa literati are invited to attend as the National President of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Barrister Ahmed Maiwada, shall be live in Yenagoa on his maiden visit to Bayelsa State – the glory of all lands.
