Apostle Ebi Warns Bayelsans Against Demarketing the State
The Reformed Supreme Egbesu Assembly has cautioned Bayelsans and the Ijaw nation to desist from what it described as demarketing Bayelsa State, warning that the deities of the land are displeased with the continuous abuses and negative publicity directed at the state.
Leader of the group, Apostle Clarkson Ebibode, gave the warning while addressing his followers. He noted that Bayelsans must recognize the power of the tongue, stressing that words spoken against the state can either build or destroy the very foundation of the Ijaw nation.
Apostle Ebibode was reacting to a Facebook post by one Dr. Theophilus Oviezimebe, who alleged government involvement in the abduction of a Bayelsa State High Court judge. He condemned the claim, describing it as blackmail, and urged citizens not to mistake Governor Douye Diri’s simplicity for weakness.
According to him, those engaged in promoting a negative image of the state are committing what he called a crime against *Egbesu*, the deity revered in the Ijaw nation. He stressed that Bayelsans must channel their energy into promoting peace, unity, and development rather than partisan politics that could further divide the people.
The Apostle commended individuals and groups who have continued to project Bayelsa positively, insisting that collective effort is required to achieve the desired development. He also called on citizens to support the “Prosperity Government” of Governor Douye Diri as a duty to the state and the Ijaw nation.
While commending Governor Diri as “Governor-General of the Ijaw nation,” Apostle Ebibode urged him not to be distracted by criticisms, assuring that the gods of the land are pleased with his leadership and encouraging him to stay focused on the path of a prosperous Bayelsa.
