Martins P. Zidebegha, Secretary-General, Association of Movie Producers, AMP, Bayelsa State Chapter has applauded efforts of the Ralph Nwadike-led National Executive Council of the association to cushion the economic impact of lockdown in the country through the release of cash palliatives to members in the country.

Speaking to reporters, Zidebegha said the move is part of efforts to help members as well as wives of late members to get food and other form of relief during this period of lockdown to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

Zidebegha noted that these are critical times in the entertainment industry and with the lockdown as producers most of them are out of jobs noting the producers are the employers of labour in the development of any content therefore to stay without a job within this period will cause economic hardship for the members.

The AMP scribe explained that the cash palliatives is a short time measure for members to get support from the association and create a sense of belonging for everyone that the leadership cares and wants the progress of the body.

Zidebegha, a renowned director and producer based in Yenagoa was full of praise for the National Executive led by Ralph Nwadike for not letting his members down since the outbreak of Covid-19 in the country and encouraged him to do more for the development of the movie industry in Nigeria.

It will recalled that the Federal and most state government in Nigeria has called for lockdown of every form of social gathering and stay-at-home order as part of protocol for the prevention of the respiratory viral disease, Covid-19 since its outbreak in February 27, 2020 in Lagos.

As employers of labour for the production of movie, the producers cancelled various production project for the safety of their staff and crew.
