
Bayelsa Movie Summit: AMP Seeks Partnership with Ministry of Information
As part of efforts to boost movie production, the Bayelsa State Chapter of the Association of Movie Producers, AMP is seeking a strategic partnership with the state Ministry of Information, Orientation and Strategy for its median Bayelsa Movie summit.
This was made known during a courtesy visit by the Movie Producers on the Hon. Ayiba Duba, Honourable Commissioner of the Bayelsa State Ministry of Information, Orientation and Strategy in his office.
Speaking during the visit, Comrade Maxwell Opoikumo, state chairman of the Association said the producer is the employer of personnels for any movie production therefore plays key role in employment generation.
Comrade Opoikumo explained that the association will be hosting the maiden edition of the Bayelsa Movie Summit to bring relevant stakeholders together to chart a course of progress for the movie industry in the state.
He explained that it serve as an opportunity to develop a strategic policy document to engage youths in the different components of movie making that will have a multiplier effect on the Bayelsa State economy.
In his response, the Bayelsa state Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Hon. Ayiba Duba has charged movie producers to promote the cultural heritage of the state.
He noted that the State is blessed with rich cultures, languages, artifacts, and biodiversities to be exposed by the movie industry.
Hon. Duba who assured the support of the Ministry, urged the state chapter of AMP to propagate the cultural heritage of the Ijaw man.
AMP should tell the Ijaw stories that revolve around truth and resilience, in a bid to change the narrative expressed by those who do not understand the hopes and aspirations of the people.
