INSIGHT | Bible Verse for Today 1 December 2023 – Mark 14:36 | ‘…Not What I Will’
[dropcap]F[/dropcap]ew hour to the crucifixion, Jesus said in a prayer, not what I will, before making this prayer, the previous verses shade more light on the weight and burden on the heart of Jesus. He was exceedingly sorrowful as he led His disciples to Gethsemena to pray after the Passover.
Verse 34 records, And he saith unto them, ‘my soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch’ Jesus said in same chapter. At this point, the emotions of sorrow, heaviness, weariness and discouragement sets in to terminate his divine assignment on the cross to save humanity.
The human nature surfaces at this moment in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God who came down to earth in the form of man born by the Spirit, much more, you that is born of flesh. Emotions are integral part of our human existence but can be overcome through deliberate commitment to the will of God.
Many times, we are tempted to drop that vision is so strong in our heart when are suddenly overwhelmed with opposing forces and circumstances. We had wished for something else, we want to lay down the cross of upliftment half-way. Crises and conflicts stand right at our face, to stop us getting to our dreams.
Friends, you are not alone, when wrong emotions creep into heart at the point of giving our all to achieve our goals and dreams. Be encouraged, because Jesus overcame, you will overcome that situation now!
