What are some of the biases and discriminations the girl child/women face in school, work place & the society at large.
Women and girls around the world face numerous biases and discriminations that hinder their progress and potential. These obstacles are pervasive, affecting every aspect of their lives, from education to employment and societal expectations.
When it comes to education, girls have limited access to education, mostly those in the rural areas, due to cultural, financial, or logistical issues. Girls are frequently encouraged to pursue traditionally feminine subjects, such as home economics. Girls and women in educational institutions often face sexual harassment, bullying, and violence, creating a hostile learning environment.
In our society, women are underrepresented in leadership positions, decision-making bodies, and media platforms, limiting their ability to influence policy and shape public discourse.
Also, women and girls face high rates of violence, including domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking, which can have severe physical and emotional consequences.
In the workplace, women often experience sexual harassment, unequal pay, and discriminatory practices, such as being passed over for promotions or being stereotyped based on their gender.
What are some of the things women can do to improve their lot.
For a woman to improve her lot, she must acquire knowledge and skills to enhance career prospects and financial independence.
Women should develop and cultivate self-confidence, resilience, and emotional intelligence to navigate challenges.
Women should build networks and surround themselves with positive, supportive people who encourage and empower them. Educate themselves on personal finance, budgeting, and investing to make informed decisions.
