Celebrating the Maternal Anniversary of an Emerging Political Colossus – High Chief Collins Cocodia
By Patrick Ndubuisi – Some schools of thought believe that in order to be successful in life, one must choose his or her career path early, and dedicate every time and treasure to achieving the stated goals and objectives that are in line with the chosen career or vocation.
Although, there is no gain saying to the fact that countless challenges and brick walls would be met along the way, ranging from lack of finances, government policies, mistakes, and sometimes betrayals and sabotage from family and friends, all limiting ones pace or quest towards breasting the tape of success.
However, according to a popular saying, “You will face many defeats in life, but never let yourself be defeated.”
This is indeed the story of High Chief Collins Cocodia.
Born several years ago, High Chief Cocodia, just like several others within Nigerian and Africa, had a humble and somewhat tough childhood, where at some point, he had to undertake some jobs in order to pay for his education.
This, did not in any way deter or weigh him down, rather, the situation served as a source of motivation to achieve success in life, and so he went through his secondary and tertiary institutions successfully and in flying colours.
Becoming a student of Political Science at the prestigious Delta State University, Abraka, in Delta state was no fluke, as he garnered all the requisite knowledge of how to make intelligent suggestions, formulate strategies and policies, and how to become exceptional in a political terrain.
Moreso, his decision to test the waters of politics quite early helped him to maintain his track, and set his sights on what he wants to become in life.
From his first appointment as Chairman, Toru-Abubou Rural Development Council, to becoming the Governor’s Representative, Sagbama council area, to Commissioner for Youth Development, to overseeing the Sports Development Ministry, then becoming the pioneer Commissioner for Labour, Employment and Productivity, and now Special Adviser to the Bayelsa State Governor on Political Matters, High Chief Collins Cocodia has ensured he made a difference, and left a legacy behind, in any office he had occupied.
The Special Adviser to the Bayelsa State Governor on Political Matters, Chief Cocodia has made significant contributions to the development of the state and nation.
Born with a natural flair for leadership, Chief Cocodia has demonstrated exceptional dedication to public service, earning him recognition and respect from his peers and the community. His commitment to the aspirations of the government is evident in his tireless efforts to promote peace, unity, and development in Bayelsa State.
One notable aspect of Chief Cocodia’s character is his passion for education and youth empowerment. He has been instrumental in supporting initiatives that promote the welfare of young people, and recognizing the potential that lies within them.
His advocacy for meaningful engagement of youths in creative activities geared towards self-sustenance is a testament to his vision for a brighter future.
His appointment as Special Adviser to the Governor on Political, birthed an opportunity to show that the office needed a midas touch and a different approach to using systematic and scientific techniques in resolving and addressing political issues, as well as attaining political stability.
Little wonder why in just about five years and counting in office as the Political Adviser, he is widely admired and described as one of the state’s emerging POLITICAL COLOSSUS.
As we celebrate High Chief Collins Cocodia’s birthday today, October 17th, 2025, we honor not only his life but also his contributions to the society. His leadership style, marked by humility and a willingness to listen, has earned him the admiration of many.
We wish him good health, happiness, and many more years of service to humanity.
