
Avoid Distractions, Social Vices and Focus on Your Books, Coalition Advises Students of Teto School
Dise Goddy Harry, member of the Coalition of Women Led Organizations, advises students at the Teto Group School to avoid all forms of distractions, social vices and focus on reading their books while in school.
Dise Goddy Harry and her team mates gave the advise during a School-to-School Devotion Sensitization project titled ‘Distraction: It’s Cause and Cure’ organized by the Coalition of Women Led Organizations in Yenagoa.
According to her, any form of distraction, and social vices will lead student from not paying the needed attention to their academic works leading to an eventual low academic scores and performance.
Goddy Harry, who is also the founder of Dise Ogbise Foundation, DO Foundation shared real life stories of three teenagers who experienced failure due to social vices that got them distracted while in school.
She stated students to desist from the act of using their phones during school hours stressing that it is an anti social behaviour.
‘Students are not allowed to use phones in school, “it is a source of distraction to your academic work”. You only need a phone for research and help you do your assignment, your principal will report any student caught using a phone during school hours and the person will be punished accordingly Harry warned.
The School-to-School Devotion Sensitization is an initiative of the Coalition of Women Led Organization aimed at creating awareness on the rights of children, dangers of social vices and distractions amongst children. The coalition has members from END VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND CHILDREN, SOUTH SOUTH WOWICAN, KOSIETE BOY CHILD FOUNDATION, TRADITIONAL BIRTH ATTENDANT PRESIDENT.
