And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.
INSIGHT || Daily Bible Verse for Today Friday 9 August 2024 – Genesis 5:24
After Adam fell, and the stories around Cain and Abel, the next prominent biblical character to appear on the scene that walked with God on earth is Enoch. God after the fall of Adam, did not find any man to walk with, thus this striking and profound testimony.
Remember, in Genesis 17:1, God told Abraham, ‘…walk before me, and be thou perfect’; this reveals that God desires man to walk with Him at all times. Walking with God is a basic requirment for every believer to enjoy the presence of God.
Enoch walking with God first appeared in an earlier verse of 22, it reads ‘And Enoch walked with God…’ and re-echoed it in our bible verse for today telling us the benefits he enjoyed. The bible says, he did not taste dead or saw the corruption of his body.
Walking with God means taking instructions from God and applying these instructions promptly. The ability to please God, not pleasing self and man; it is simply putting God first in all matters. If Enoch walked with God, you too can.
Dear child of God, there are enormous benefits in walking with God not just for material gains but kingdom benefits. Develop the habit of walking with God daily amidst the several distractions today to our Christian faith.
PRAYER FOR TODAY: Lord, like Enoch, help us to continue walking with You in prompt obedience to Your word and instructions daily. Give us the strength to eliminate distractions, and focus on pleasing you at all times, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
