One of the interesting revelation of John chapter one and verse four is – the life giving Word becoming Light. Such an interesting characteristic of the Word that verse five gives us a better understanding. This is another natural potency of the Word.
The first negative phenomenal that confronted the earth is darkness as seen in Genesis chapter one. The first element God creates is Light in verse 3 of Genesis chapter one. Therefore, the solution to darkness is light. Light expels darkness in any form.
Darkness connotes times of confusion, pains, and crossroads moment. Negative emotions of depression, frustration, and hopelessness are seasons of darkness. Hopefully, all that is required is the Word that emits Light to see the way out.
This, David, the psalmist confirms in Psalms 119:105, when he said ‘Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.’ Our bible verse for today, reemphasises the dominion of light over darkness.
In the Amplified Version, John 1:5 reads “The Light shines on in the darkness, and the darkness did not understand it or overpower it or appropriate it or absorb it [and is unreceptive to it].”
Dearly Beloved, there is light in God’s word that will make you come out from any form of darkness. You will shine, when you engage the word of God.

Heavenly Father, we thank you for your benevolence of life and light to mankind. We pray thee to increase our knowledge of your word daily in Jesus name amen.
