The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, ( EFCC), Olanipekun Olukayode has attributed the impactful developmental strides of the Commission in the last two years to the dogged commitment to transparency and accountability by the Managing Director and the entire staff of the Commission.
Olanipekun Olukayode who stated this during the commissioning of the new Bayelsa State office of NDDC further noted that he came to express his readiness to support the numerous people -oriented projects embarked upon by the Commission, stressing that this embodies good governance, transparency, accountability and the prudent management and utilization of the resources accruable to the commission.
The nation’s anti-graft boss commended the Managing Director of NDDC, Chief Samuel Ogbuku for his vision and qualitative leadership which is a departure from the past, noting that there is now institutional and policy transformation in the commission.
In the same vein, the Minister of Regional Development, Eng Abubarkar Momoh commended the state government ‘s partnership and collaboration with NDDC which is yeilding positive results for the overall benefits of Bayelsans as a whole.
The Chairman of Senate Committee on South/ South Development Commission, Senator Kombowei Benson also expressed satisfaction over the performance of NDDC especially as regards the solar powered street lights across the Niger Delta region, stressing that this was possible because of the dedication to duty by the management and staff of the Commission.
In his remarks, the Managing Director of NDDC, Chief Samuel Ogbuku noted that as an interventionist agency , NDDC is committed to continuous partnering with state governments in for overall development of Niger Delta, stressing that the commissioning of utra- modern office of the Commission in Bayelsa marked the institutionalization of the commission’s presence in the state.
He further noted that the new office was named after the late Senator Melford Okilo to justify the sacrifices and actions the late sage took to ensure that NDDC was established while serving as a member representing Bayelsa East in the red chamber.
He however expressed gratitude to Gov. Douye Diri for his unwavering support for the commission, emphasizing that this has led to the unity and peace of the state.
In his goodwill message, the former chairman of Ekeremor local government area of the state, Hon. Selekibina Saboh said the acquisition of the new office of NDDC in Bayelsa State is an expression of the readiness of the commission in addressing the challenges experienced by the staff of the commission to perform their duties effectively.
Hon. Selekibina Saboh who is a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and philanthropist urged the stakeholders and the people of the Niger Delta region to continue to support the Commission’s MD in achieving set target.
