Topic: KINDLE A FIRE
“And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.” (Acts 3: 4)
That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.
In our Focal Scripture, Peter fastened his eyes on the lame man. Before commanding the lame man to rise up and walk, Peter began by fastening his eyes of the man. The word ‘fasten’ as used in that scripture, comes from the Greek word ‘hapto’, which means, to kindle a fire. So before Peter would make the proclamation that connected the man to his new season, he first kindled a fire. A fire was kindled before the miracle happened.
Friend, I am aware that the miracles you desire are yet to manifest, but God is calling you to kindle a fresh fire. Let a fresh fire be kindled in your inner man. Let a fresh fire be kindled inside of your spirit man. Let your prayer altar receive a fresh fire. Let your consecration and dedication to God come forth with a fresh fire. Let your encounters with God cause an increase in the fire of God in you. Add the fuel of prayer to the fire inside of you.
The man who was to decree that lameness must come to an end, needed to kindle a fire before making his proclamation. Isn’t it possible that you have been making proclamations that have not come to pass because you are yet to kindle a fire? Isn’t it possible that you are yet to break forth on all sides because you are yet to kindle a fire that can melt negativities away? Isn’t it possible that ‘lameness’ has remained because fire is missing?
Tune up the fire of God in your inner man. Stir up the flames of the Spirit in you through prayers. Like Peter and John, seek for the encounters of the upper room as you desire to make proclamations that will come to pass. Stir the bowels of your spirit man again and again. Pray in the Holy Ghost as frequently as you can. Keep the fire in you burning and blazing as much as possible.
Remember, before the proclamation of Peter, there was a kindling of fire. Kindle the fire of the Holy Ghost in your inner man, and that same fire will melt away every negativity around you.
2 Timothy 1: 6 (NLT) says: “That is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you…”
