
New Inc Leadership Emerges As Igbadiwei Wins Presidential Contest
By Dim Oba – A new chapter has begun for the Ijaw National Congress (INC) following the emergence of High Chief Macdonald Igbadiwei as its president-elect after a decisive victory at the polls held in Ijaw House.
The Electoral Committee announced that Igbadiwei secured 317 votes to clinch the top position, defeating a strong field of contenders in the closely watched election.
Prof. Franklin Erepamo Osaisai came second with 162 votes, while Engr. Ebipamowei Wodu polled 53 votes. Chief T.K. Ogoriba garnered 11 votes, Chief Nengi James received 4 votes, and Rear Admiral Woyenidikpete Geoffrey Yenga recorded 1 vote.
The election attracted delegates from various Ijaw communities, underscoring the importance of the contest in shaping the future direction of the foremost socio-cultural organization of the Ijaw people.
Igbadiwei’s victory signals a transition in leadership, with stakeholders expressing optimism that his administration will strengthen unity and advance the interests of the Ijaw nation.
The Electoral Committee was commended for overseeing what observers described as a credible and orderly process, setting the stage for the incoming leadership to build on the gains of the outgoing administration.
