Nwabali Parts Ways With Chippa United After Four Years
Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has officially ended his stint with South African club Chippa United after four years, the club confirmed on Thursday.
The 29-year-old shot-stopper announced his departure in an emotional farewell message shared on Instagram, where he expressed deep gratitude to his teammates, coaching staff, supporters and the club’s hierarchy for their support throughout his stay.
“It was more than a family,” Nwabali wrote. “To my teammates, coaches, amazing fans, and the best chairman in the world — thank you. As I say farewell, I carry with me memories of victories, lessons from setbacks, laughter, and tears. These moments will stay with me forever.”
He paid special tribute to the club’s chairman, describing him as a father figure and thanking him for the opportunity to be part of Chippa United’s journey.
“To the club chairman, thank you for being a father figure and for the honor of letting me be part of this journey. I leave with gratitude and cherished memories. Until we meet again,” he added.
Nwabali joined Chippa United from Katsina United of the Nigeria Professional Football League in 2022 and went on to establish himself as a key figure at the club. During his time with the Chilli Boys, he made around 70 appearances across competitions, earning plaudits for his consistency and leadership between the posts.
His performances at club level also strengthened his profile on the international stage, culminating in his rise as a regular goalkeeper for the Super Eagles.
As Nwabali bids farewell to Chippa United, speculation is expected to grow over his next destination, with his experience and recent form likely to attract interest from clubs within and outside Africa.
