The leadership of the Ogbia Brotherhood Youth Council Worldwide has reacted to allegations of unfairness, lack of transparency and nepotism made against the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Samuel Ogbuku.
National President, Mr Mipuniaziba Joe Akaragha made this known in a press statement issued to newsmen in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital.
Mr Joe Akaragha noted that although it is the right of individuals and groups to express their grievances, it is also important to ensure that the truth is not overshadowed by misinformation or political agendas.
He pointed out that the current leadership of the NDDC has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the region’s growth as they have prioritized fairness, inclusion and transparency in every aspect of their operations.
He emphasized that the NDDC remains focused on delivering projects that are beneficial to all the nine states of the Niger Delta adding that claims of bias in project allocation are unfounded and do not reflect the reality of ongoing development actions in the various states.
While speaking on the empowerment of youths, he said the Niger Delta Youth Internship Program where many young persons have been profiled would soon have potential beneficiaries being shortlisted.
The Ogbia Brotherhood Youth President further noted that the NDDC management board upholds strict federal regulations and merit based principles in it’s recruitment processes as every employment opportunity is designed to reflect the diversity and inclusivity that the Niger Delta represents.
Speaking on the education investment of the NDDC, he pointed out that through its scholarship initiatives, the NDDC has provided access to world class education for countless youths through a merit based process which has empowered them to become future leaders and drivers of change in the region.
He urged all citizens of the Niger Delta to collectively focus on unity, collaboration and solutions that drive sustainable development as protests based on unfounded claims would hinder the progress of the region.
Mr Joe Akaragha appreciated the MD of the NDDC for continuously upholding the mandate to promote equity, prosperity and development saying these efforts deserve commendation and not condemnation.
