The Council of Chiefs in Ogbia Kingdom and members of the Ogbia Brotherhood have expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the reappointment of their son, Chief Samuel Ogbuku as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.
His Eminence, King Dumaro Charles Owaba, Obanobhan III of Ogbia Kingdom made this known while speaking to newsmen during a World Press Conference held in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.
King Dumaro Charles Owaba noted that the conference was organized to thank the president for finding their son worthy to be reappointed for the position.
“Ogbia land is rich in mineral resources which has contributed greatly to the development of the nation but Ogbia people are not given appointments, we thank the president for this, we pray God to grant him the wisdom and strength to lead the country aright”
However, he pointed out Ogbia kingdom which produces the wealth of the nation is being neglected and marginalized as the people are living in abject poverty.
“The wealth of this nation is found in Ogbia land. Institutions, airports, railway stations were built through this wealth but not much has been done in Ogbia, Ogbia kingdom is bleeding”
The traditional ruler of the Ogbia kingdom appealed to the president to give more appointments and projects to the Ogbia people as well as scholarships to their children for the development of their land.
National President, Ogbia Brotherhood Worldwide, Dr Azibalua Seibofa noted that the NDDC under the leadership of Chief Samuel Ogbuku has recorded tremendous progress with visible evidence in all the states of the Niger Delta region.
Dr Seibofa called on all aggrieved parties to sheathe their swords and allow peace to reign adding that Chief Ogbuku should be allowed to complete his tenure.
“We are known for quality service delivery in all appointments and responsibilities, noble sons and daughters of Ogbia Kingdom have continued to contribute to the peace, unity, growth and development of the nation”
He also called on the federal government and the International Companies to ensure that there is more infrastructural development in Ogbia Kingdom.
“Since the discovery of oil at Oloibiri and subsequent discovery of oil wells in various communities, many of these communities have been abandoned for decades”
While appreciating the president for the reappointment of the MD of NDDC, he also expressed gratitude to all the people in the nine states of the Niger Delta region for the maximum support given to Chief Samuel Ogbuku to deliver on the renewed hope agenda of the President Tinubu led administration.
Leader, Women wing of the Ogbia Brotherhood, Rev Mrs. Anietim Freeman appealed to the president to desist from listening to mischievous persons who are conspiring to spoil the good works of the MD of NDDC.
The World Press Conference of the Ogbia kingdom had traditional rulers from various clans, Chiefs, Men, Women and youths in attendance.
