
Prosperity Cup Season 7: Eternal Grace Ministries F.C Emerge Champions, Gov Diri Thanks Partners, Bayelsans for their Support
Eternal Grace Ministries Football Club of Yenagoa have emerged champions of season Seven of the Prosperity Cup, after beating Advance Dreams Football Academy 3-2 on penalties after regulation time ended goaless.
EGM FC got the prize money of N10 million for the win while the runners up received a reward of N5million Naira.
Also in the Female Category of the competition, Afini Football Club won Ezuoha Soccer Academy 5-3 on penalties, after playing a one-all draw on regulation time.
While congratulating the participating teams for showing strength and determination, Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri thanked the Director-General of the Prosperity Cup, Mr. Ono Akpe and his team for the smooth organization of the competition.
Governor Diri also thanked the different partners, Particularly Premium Trust Bank and the Nigeria Football Federation, stating that their support made the competition a huge success.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Bayelsa State, I want to thank all of you who have been part of this competition, and for making it a competition people look forward to, every year.
As a government, we will continue to invest in the youth of the state via sports development, and that is why we are building a FIFA standard stadium. We want to be number one in sports in Nigeria,” Governor Diri stated.
Dignitaries at the finals include, Dr. Mrs. Gloria Diri, wife of the Governor, Senator Konbowei Friday Benson, Hon. Mitema Obordor, Hon.(Mrs.) Marie Ebikake, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere, Speaker, Bayelsa State House of Assembly and members of the state House of Assembly, and immediate past deputy governor of Edo state and Director-General of the National Institute for Sports, Comrade Philip Shaibu.
Others are Prof. Nimibofa Ayawei, Secretary to the state government, members of the state executive council, Mr. Ibrahim Gusau, President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Mrs. Nkechi Obi, Chairperson of the Nigeria Women’s Football League, former coaches of the Nigerian National team, Austin Eguavoen and Samson Siasia and other top government officials.
