Re: Trinidad, Bayelsa Partners on Industrial Park – A Reply by Sikpi Linus
The Bayelsa State Government made a post on Bayelsa Government New Media Facebook platform on the above subject matter informing us about a partnership to turn gas flared into production sector; viz:Â Bayelsa industrial park.
While the efforts are recognized, Bayelsa State people have lost hope on memorandum of understandings (MOUs) and partnerships without evidence. This is a situation I believe can be addressed with proactiveness on the part of the Government to show working.
First tenure, Gov. Douye Diri led Government signed so much MOUs without physical implementations on ground or improvement in our standards of living. Second tenure, another set of MOUs have started again. Remember these MOUs cost nairas of Bayelsans resources without results especially the ones the Government travel out to sign without bringing a grain of sand as investment to the State.
My sincere opinion is for the Government of Bayelsa State to kickstart these projects with whatever we can make available 200million, 500million, 1bn and above and do section by section development of projects.
For example, the idea of sea port is beautiful, why don’t we start something there; the idea of feed industry is great, why don’t with start little and get CNG powered generators to process even if it is 1,000 bags per week and see if these guys don’t come begging and rushing to invest seeing us break even and improve our lives.
I am an advocate of prosperity and progressiveness and I believe in us doing it ourselves first before crying to investors. We should get a better steeze.
The Government of Bayelsa State can do better and I believe Bayelsans will be better in a better Bayelsa State.
