FORGET THE CALCULATION
“Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.” (John 6: 7)
That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.
INSIGHT || Streams of Joy Devotional 6 June 2025 – Forget the Calculation
In our Focal Scripture, having being asked by Jesus about where they could buy bread, Philip answered that two hundred pennyworth of bread is not enough to feed the multitude. Philip looked at the crowd, did a calculation, and figured that two hundred penny-worth would not be enough to make it happen. Philip imagined that money needed to be spent to make it happen, and he was fixated on calculating what was needed.
Friend, you may have a multitude to feed, you may have a humongous challenge facing you at the moment, but El Roi says, forget the calculation. Forget the calculation of how the multitudes will be fed. Forget the calculation of how you will make a headway. Forget the calculation of how you do not have enough to make the progress you desire. Forget the calculation of how you will get the results that seem beyond your reach.
Notice that the solution that eventually came did not come through the calculation of Philip. So, he simply calculated for nothing. He cracked his brain for something that Jesus already had figured out. Stop calculating when Jesus already has it all figured out. Stop breaking your head for something that Jesus has planned for. Stop losing sleep for issues that Jesus has settled. Stop worrying for what Jesus will handle sooner than later.
Did you realize that no one needed to buy bread before the multitude was fed? So, the calculations of Philip were a waste of time in the end. Most of what you are worrying about, will turn out to be a waste of time when the chips are down. You will be shocked at how Jesus settled your issues without the help of your calculations. You will be shocked how your story changed without having to break your head or break the bank.
When El Roi is involved, your calculations are not needed. Welcome to that season where you will not need to break your head for what Jesus has settled.
Romans 9: 28 says: “For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.”
