For more than twenty years, the Niger Delta region with political office holders, operated in darkness, relying heavily on petrol generators to power just a handful of communities if none, and only when absolutely necessary.

That era is now over as innovative brain was made to saddle the leadership of the commission two years ago. The results are visible even though their avowed campaign of calumny and blackmail against the Managing Director were countered with visible facts about their myopic criticism that could not hold water as they did out of envy to score their cheap point.

In a bold and forward-thinking move, Chief (Dr) Samuel Ogbuku has successfully provided power to the entire region including state capitals through the deployment of a sustainable solar energy system. The installation includes a network of high-efficiency solar panels, high-capacity batteries, and fast-charging infrastructure, bringing reliable, round-the-clock power to the heart of communities governance, where the region feel the impact of good leader on the throne to ameliorate their age long suffering in darkness.

His vision had been a threat to their administration, thereby making them to wake up from their slumber to follow the path of good governance for the people.

This milestone is more than just a provision of light up the region, it’s a proof to leadership that places a premium on functionality, staff welfare, and environmental consciousness of a good leader. The improved solar street lights supply has already begun to promote good security network in communities including the urban areas as everywhere you go is as bright as day light which has made more productive, conducive working environment for both civil servants and private individuals and visitors alike.

Chief (Dr) Samuel Ogbuku is not just making promises, he is making Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) work again as it was in a state of locomotive without propelling force to bring development to the people. One impactful project at a time, including roads, construction of bridges, women and youth empowerment, scholarship to study home and abroad, building of town hall, community playgrounds, provision of jetties, health facilities, sporting activities with many more to mention.
