120-Year-Old Ilorin Man Reportedly Celebrates 94th Wedding Anniversary With Four Wives
By Tams Jonah, ABUJA – A man reportedly aged 120 years in Ilorin, Kwara State, has attracted widespread attention after allegedly celebrating his 94th wedding anniversary with his four wives.
The elderly man, whose identity has not been publicly disclosed, was recently featured in viral photographs and videos showing him surrounded by his four wives, with reports claiming that all four women are still alive.
The extraordinary story has sparked conversations on longevity, marriage and polygamy, with social media users expressing amazement at the reported length of the union.
The development was also discussed on Arise TV’s Arise 360, where presenters @themancjay and Nicole Abebe examined the unusual anniversary and posed the question: “Are men the prize?”
According to reports circulating online, the man has been married for 94 years, meaning he would have entered marriage at about 26 if the reported age and anniversary figures are accurate.
The claim has, however, not been independently verified.
Pulse Nigeria, which reported the story on September 7, said the man was “believed to be over 120” and that neither his age, exact location nor the duration of his marriages had been independently confirmed. No publicly available birth or marriage documents have also been presented to substantiate the claims.
The report said the viral video originated from a social media post and showed the elderly man seated alongside his four wives. Other Nigerian media outlets, including Leadership and HammerTimes, have subsequently reported the same claims, also noting that the details remain unverified.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding the man’s exact age and marital history, the story has generated considerable public interest, particularly because of the reported combination of exceptional longevity and a decades-long polygamous marriage.
Some social media users have described the reported union as evidence of endurance and family stability, while others have jokingly questioned how a man could successfully navigate a household with four wives for such a long period.
If the 120-year age claim were independently established, the man would be approaching the extreme limits of documented human longevity. The oldest verified person ever recorded, Jeanne Calment of France, lived to 122 years and 164 days.
For now, however, the Ilorin man’s story remains a remarkable viral human-interest story rather than a verified longevity record.
What appears less disputable is the fascination generated by the photographs: a very elderly man sitting proudly with four women described as his wives — a picture that has prompted Nigerians to debate not only the secrets of long life, but also the age-old question of who really holds the winning hand in marriage.
