
2025 EU Short Film Competition Calls on Nigerian Youths to Tell Their Stories Through Film
The 2025 EU Short Film Competition has officially opened for entries, offering young Nigerian filmmakers the opportunity to showcase their creativity and storytelling prowess. The competition, organized by the European Union (EU) in partnership with the Zuma International Film Festival, aims to celebrate the voices and experiences of Nigerian youth through short films.
This year’s theme, “Being a Nigerian Youth,” encourages participants to create compelling 1–3-minute films that reflect the realities, dreams, and creative journeys of young people in Nigeria. The initiative seeks to promote Storytelling for Life and Creative Journeys, emphasizing how film can be a powerful tool for expression, reflection, and change.
Cash Prizes for Outstanding Filmmakers
Winners of the EU Short Film Competition 2025 will be rewarded with substantial cash prizes during the grand finale at the Zuma International Film Festival on December 3, 2025. The top 10 shortlisted entries will be screened before the final announcement.
Prize categories include:
- 🥇 Winner: ₦1.5 Million
- 🥈 1st Runner-Up: ₦750,000
- 🥉 2nd Runner-Up: ₦500,000
This initiative is part of the European Union’s ongoing commitment to youth development, cultural exchange, and the creative economy in Nigeria.
