50 Niger Delta Women Empowered Through NCDMB Catering and Event Planning Training
As part of its back to the creek initiative, the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has successfully trained 50 women from the Niger Delta region in catering and event planning. The program, designed to strengthen the capacity of women in specialized areas of human endeavor, concluded with a close out ceremony at the Multipurpose Vocational Center, Egbokodo, Warri, Delta State.
Representing the Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, Mr. Kunu Harmony commended the graduates for their commitment, discipline, and determination throughout the training. He emphasized that the skills acquired go beyond cooking and decoration, noting that creativity, organizational ability, and entrepreneurial drive will be crucial to their long term success.
Highlighting the Board’s mandate, Mr. Kunu explained that NCDMB is committed to promoting Nigerian content, building local capacity, and creating opportunities for Nigerians to participate actively in the oil and gas industry and its linkage sectors. Through our human capacity development initiatives, we ensure that Nigerians are equipped not only with technical expertise but also with entrepreneurial skills that foster self reliance and global competitiveness, he stated.
He further encouraged the beneficiaries to view themselves as entrepreneurs, innovators, and future employers of labor. He advised them to form cooperative societies and register formally to strengthen their financial base and ensure sustainability in business.
The event also featured a drama performance by the graduates, emphasizing the importance of putting the starter packs provided to productive use rather than selling them off.
