Do you know, Nkem Owoh featured in the 1987 film ‘Things Fall Apart? The name Nkem Owoh, may not ring a bell but the mention of Osuofia hits the strike and bell starts ringing of this foremost comic character on the Nigeria movie scene for over 3 decades now.

Nkem Owoh is a Nigerian actor, broadcaster, and scriptwriter known for his comic character in the movie Osuofia in London produced in 2003.

  1. His Birth date and Place

Nkem Owoh according to Wikipedia was born on February 7, 1958 in a rural village of Amaju, Udi Town of the famous coal-city, Enugu State.

  1. Schools Attended

Without a clear source for the names of his primary and secondary schools, he had his early education in Enugu State before studying Engineering at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

  1. Career Start and Development

He started his movie career as a writer with interest in television and film productions.  He actually started acting on stage while in school.  He provided the subtitle for the popular Igbo-speaking movie, Living in Bondage which was produced in 1992.

  1. The Scriptwriter

As a scriptwriter, Nkem Owoh is credited to have written the scripts of the following popular Nigerian classical series, The New Masquerade, Tales by Moonlight and Bassey and Company.

  1. Professional Gig in Acting

Nkem Owoh got his first professional gig in the 1987 film Things Fall Apart.  An adaptation of Chinua Achebe novel produced by the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA.

He later starred in Circle of Doom produced in 1993.

This Nollywood legend got his biggest break in his acting career in 2000 when he played the lead character in the comic movie, Ukwa.

  1. The name Osuofia

This name is synonymous with Nkem Owoh. That character has become his reality anywhere in Nigeria despite the numerous roles he played in several movies for over 2 decades.

Osuofia in London is a 2003 dark comedy production, where Nkem Owoh played the lead role.  Osuofia is a local Igbo villager who finds himself in London for the first time.

Nkem Owoh produced and released about 10 songs out of which two became an instant hit playing on major radio and television station.
