A City Submerged – Casting Call Draws Creative Talents to UNIPORT
An open call for performers has been announced for the stage production A City Submerged, a new work written by Ebidenyefa Tarila-Nikade, as organizers invite actors, dancers, singers and instrumentalists to audition in Port Harcourt.
The audition, scheduled for April 3, 2026, at 3:00 p.m., will take place at The Crab, Uniport Arts Theatre, University of Port Harcourt. The production team says the casting call is open to a wide range of creative talents interested in being part of what is described as a socially relevant and artistically driven performance.
A City Submerged is expected to explore themes that resonate with contemporary realities, with early indications suggesting a narrative inspired by environmental and societal challenges. Though full details of the storyline remain under wraps, the title and promotional material hint at a dramatic portrayal of a community grappling with crisis.
According to the organizers, the audition process will assess participants based on performance skills, stage presence, and versatility across different artistic expressions. Musicians and instrumentalists are also encouraged to attend with their instruments, while singers and dancers are advised to prepare short routines or pieces.
The production is anticipated to bring together a diverse cast, blending emerging talents with experienced performers to deliver a compelling stage experience. Industry observers note that such open casting opportunities continue to serve as important platforms for discovering new voices in Nigeria’s performing arts sector.
Interested participants are expected to arrive early for registration and screening, as a large turnout is anticipated.
