
Accelerating The MORE Agenda: Delta Assembly Receives 2026 Appropriation Bill
The proposed 2026 Appropriation Bill, titled “Accelerating the MORE Agenda,” was on Thursday presented to the Delta State House of Assembly by His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State, with an estimated budget of ₦1.6 trillion. The presentation took place in the hallowed chambers of the Assembly.
The 2026 budget prioritises improved welfare and enhanced living standards for Deltans and residents, with 70 percent earmarked for capital expenditure and 30 percent for recurrent expenditure. According to the Governor, the allocation reflects the administration’s resolve to fast-track infrastructure, strengthen economic reforms, and deepen development across the state.
In his remarks, Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, applauded the cordial and productive relationship between the Executive and the Legislature, noting that the synergy has sustained seamless governance and supported the State’s ongoing transformation.
He commended Governor Oborevwori for providing visionary and transformational leadership, especially in driving landmark infrastructural projects, sustaining peace, and implementing reforms that continue to improve the welfare and security of residents.
The Speaker further reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the Legislature to supporting the Governor’s Renewed Hope for the MORE Agenda — which promises Meaningful development, Opportunities and economic prosperity, Realistic reforms, and Enhanced peace and security for all Deltans.
According to him, Delta State “remains on the fast lane of infrastructural development, with improved peace, security, and living conditions for our people,” a reality clearly reflected in the 2026 budget presentation.
