Adhere to Strict Child Adoption Procedures, Mrs. Diri Charges Children Homes Managers
Mrs Gloria Diri, Wife of the Bayelsa State Governor has charged the Management of the Glory Land Children’s Home,Yenagoa to ensure strict compliance with Legal Procedures before children are given out for adoption..
Mrs Diri who made the call when She paid an unscheduled visit to the Home on Thursday emphasized that before any Child is adopted,the Ministry of Women Affairs is expected to give an approval hence the need for synergy.
Mrs Diri directed that a Monitoring team be constituted by the Social Welfare Department of the Ministry to monitor the well being of Children who are reunited with their families to avoid further abuse and ensure adequate development ..
While commending the Management of the Home for their selfless service to humanity,the First Lady promised to do everything within available means to keep the children comfortable adding that the Ministry of Women Affairs should work out modalities to accomodate older children who are surviors of various abuses pending when a permanent center will be made available.
Earlier, the Director, Department of Child Development, Ministry of Women Affairs, Mr. Panebi Jacob had intimated the First Lady of the challenges the Home is faced with which include flooding especially during raining season and efforts made so far in addressing same.
Also speaking, the Matron of the Children’s Home, Mrs Gladys Trust applauded Mrs Diri for the visit as her continuous show of love to the Children exhibits the true love of a mother.
