APC Congresses: ‘Brilliant Planning, Professional Execution,’ Says Barry Eka
A founding member and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Barry Eka, has described the recently concluded party congresses as a model of strategic planning and efficient execution, noting that the exercise has positioned the party for stronger internal cohesion ahead of 2027 general election.
Speaking in an interview following the completion of the congresses—from ward to national levels—Eka expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the process, which he said reflected a high level of organization and professionalism.
“Brilliant planning, totally professional and even greater delivery,” he remarked, adding that the APC is now “about 85 per cent battle-ready” for the challenges ahead.
He emphasized that the outcome of the congresses has strengthened the party’s internal structures, noting that its organs are now fully activated and prepared for effective mobilization across the state and beyond.
“Our internal party organs and structures are up-to-speed and rearing to go. Unity is key,” Eka stated.
The APC chieftain also commended the consensus-building approach adopted during the exercise, describing it as a peaceful and cost-effective alternative to more contentious electoral processes within party systems.
“Yes, it is,” he said when asked if the process met expectations. “It allows for leaders and stakeholders to ‘jawjaw’ and it is almost rancour-free.”
According to him, the success of the congresses largely depended on the willingness of aspirants to embrace dialogue and compromise in the interest of party unity.
“Remember it takes the aspirants to achieve this mode. It’s less expensive and not cumbersome,” he added.
Political observers believe that the relatively smooth conduct of the APC congresses in Delta State could serve as a template for other states seeking to minimize internal disputes and strengthen party unity ahead of forthcoming elections.
Eka reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots mobilization, urging party faithful to sustain the spirit of cooperation and unity that characterized the congresses.
