Ayo Fayose Declares Support for Bola Tinubu Despite Rejecting APC Membership
In a bold and trending statement shaking Nigeria’s political space, former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose has declared his unwavering respect and support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, despite vowing never to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking during an interview on Politics Today with Seun Okinbaloye on Channels Television, Fayose clarified that his admiration for Tinubu transcends party lines.
“I will never be an APC member, but that does not diminish my support for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu,” Fayose said. “I consider him a leader in Nigeria and particularly from our zone. Whether we like it or not, he has fought his way to the top. But to blame him for what is happening in the PDP will be unfair.”
The former governor’s comments have stirred fresh conversations across political circles and social media, as many Nigerians debate the implications of his remarks ahead of future political realignments.
Fayose also took a swipe at governors within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), accusing them of being the real architects of the party’s internal crises.
“The governors know how they are destroying the party for their selfish interest,” he added.
This statement has sparked massive reactions under the trending hashtags #SeunOkinbaloye, #PoliticsToday, and #ChannelsTV, as citizens and political analysts interpret Fayose’s words as both a critique and a call for accountability within the PDP.
Fayose, known for his outspoken and fearless political style, has consistently maintained that leadership in Nigeria must be evaluated based on merit and contribution, not partisan boundaries. His recent remarks reaffirm his maverick status in Nigerian politics — one who speaks truth to power, irrespective of party affiliation.
With the 2027 general elections already stirring early political movements, Fayose’s position could signal deeper undercurrents within the opposition as the PDP struggles to regain unity and direction.
