
Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, Bayelsa Deputy Governor Absent from Expanded Executive Meeting As Douye Diri Resigns From PDP
Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State was Absent from the Expanded state Executive meeting when Governor Douye Diri announced his resignation from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP on Wednesday morning.
Governor Douye Diri wrote: I have resigned my membership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) along with the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere, other members of the State Assembly, elected Local Government officials, my commissioners and other appointees.
I made the announcement today, October 15, 2025, during the expanded State Executive Council meeting, which was attended by the leadership of the House of Assembly.
While this decision has become imperative for obvious reasons, I would like to appreciate our supporters and the good people of Bayelsa State for your understanding.
We will remain very focused on our developmental agenda and I urge you to continue working for the common good of our state and country. Nua! Umbana!
It is however unclear if his Deputy Governor will queue behind the Governor who was said on embarking on an official assignment.
