
Bayelsa Government Assures Residents of Uninterrupted Power Supply
The Bayelsa State government has given assurance that residents of the state would soon begin to enjoy uninterrupted power supply in their homes and business places.
Technical Adviser to the Bayelsa State Governor on Media and Public Affairs, Mr Wisdom Ikuli gave the assurance when he led a team of newsmen on a media tour of the site and equipment of the new ongoing 60 megawatts gas fire turbine in Yenagoa, the state capital.
Mr Ikuli noted that the gas turbine which is expected to be completed before the end of the year would provide electricity for the people and solve many challenges caused by lack of electricity.
“We all know that electricity problem is a national problem but because Governor Diri is passionate about the welfare and wellbeing of Bayelsans, he has embarked on this courageous project, when power is installed, it will positively affect all sectors of the economy”
He commended the prosperity administration of Governor Douye Diri for the laudable initiative adding when electricity problem is solved, many other socioeconomic and political issues would also be solved.
Also speaking, Director of Operations, Engineer Steve Buba explained that work on the site has been progressive as all the equipment and resources needed have been provided by the government.
“The state government has expended so much in the gas facility, we are going to cover at least eighty percent of Yenagoa, massive rehabilitation work for transmission is ongoing”
While answering questions from newsmen, he assured that there will be no issues with the gas turbine, however there may be gas interruptions which could be easily solved by hooking up to the national grid.
The Director of Operations, Engineer Steve Buba also assured Bayelsans that the state would soon have relatively good power supply.
